The LASA-IRIS infrastructure will expand for the original main poles of Milano-LASA and Genova, and to take advantage the existing competence spread over Italy, will extend over six poles, including several operating units of proponents and co-proponents.
Each pole will be a separate workpackage in the IRIS WBS, to ease management, to clearly define responsibilities, and to reduce interdependence, a key factor for a construction project to minimize risks and the chain failure effects. The infrastructure regroups two large National Research Institutes, INFN as Proponent and CNR, and five Universities (UNIGE, UNIMI, UNINA, UNISALENTO, UNISA), well distributed among large and smaller size universities. These seven Institutes, linked via an agreement ex-art.15, operate in the IRIS project through 13 Operative Units (4 for INFN, 3 for CNR and 6 for the University).
In two poles, Milano-LASA and Salerno, a brand-new construction hall is needed to host the new large instrumentation. In further three poles, Genova, Napoli and Lecce existing space and halls will be adapted to host the new infrastructure that, in case of Genova and Salento will complement existing instrumentation, with a full synergy between team operating the new infrastructure and the existing laboratory. In one case, Frascati, the new infrastructure will be located in an already available hall.
