IRIS leverages the vast competence of INFN and all co-proponents on applied superconductivity for accelerators for Physics and Medicine, in superconducting materials, magnetism and instrumentation. IRIS will support a quantum jump above the present stat-of-the art and provide a unique ground for fostering innovation, new societal application and permanent training for young scientists, engineers, and technologists.
Objectives and ambition
The main goal of IRIS consists in creating a coherent distributed infrastructure on applied superconductivity (AS) leveraging on existing high-level competences and instrumentations, coordinated by a central management. IRIS will construct and commission in the given time frame such a complex infrastructure covering
